I joined through an agency in 2021 onto a relatively new vessel, so the machinery held up during my time. The working culture depends heavily on which senior officers you draw; engine-room overtime could spike even when there was no real work. Supply was the weakest side — the store was bare and procurement approvals were slow. Internet was 10 GB a month at decent speed, 100 GB for top ranks. The crew was mixed. People do not stay long, so the company constantly needs officers — which is also why it promotes quickly.
