I worked for Arklow Shipping some time ago. There were periods when the vessel stayed in port over weekends, and the work was not particularly stressful. The salaries were not among the highest, but overall I considered it a good company to work for.
I worked for Arklow Shipping from November 2023 until January 20, 2024. The interview took about five minutes and the only test was on an ECDIS simulator. I was paid €3,450 per month in the Dutch office and was told that the Irish office paid about €3,650; the contract was for three months. The vessels were built from 2017 onward, the food was very good, internet was unlimited, and there were opportunities for career growth. The crew consisted mainly of Filipino ratings.
I worked for Arklow Shipping. The salaries were very low, but otherwise I considered it a good company. The ratings were all Filipino, while the officers were Polish; I was the only Russian crew member at the time, and later another Russian Chief Officer joined.
I worked as a Chief Officer for the Irish division of Arklow Shipping. The stores and supplies were acceptable, and the fleet is constantly being renewed with new vessels. Workload varied considerably: sometimes there were four or five cargoes in a month and the crew was extremely busy, while at other times there were only one or two cargoes. Salaries were average, but reasonable for coaster vessels.
