LNG carrier owner and operator and FSRU manager, spun off from Golar LNG in 2022. Offices in London, Oslo, Kuala Lumpur and Split.
My permanent contract here worked exactly as written: rotation of two and a half months on and off, double salary from the day a relief was overdue past three months, one month's salary as a parting gesture if you chose to leave, and full contract pay if the company could not place you. I spent half a year sailing and then half a year being paid in full while they had no vessel for me — with an apology. A permanent scheme is worth it on these terms.
I transferred from LPG. Ninety percent of the atmosphere depends on which crew you land in: I was lucky with a good captain and a reasonable back-to-back, but there are ships where new joiners were sent home within weeks. Food was excellent. Pay was never late and the contract is permanent. Nobody expects overtime heroics; with my crew, working past ten hours raised eyebrows. The fleet includes FSRU projects and recruitment from conventional tonnage onto new projects is steady. Promotion works up to Second Officer and Third Engineer; above that, the passport matters more than the record.
