I worked through Interorient. It is a reliable crewing company: salaries were paid on time, and there were also vessels under Interorient's management, including many bulk carriers.
I am currently working under Interorient's management. Salaries are paid to a bank card, and the company covers travel, medical examinations, drug tests, workwear and safety shoes. Crew changes are carried out on time. Salaries are generally average or below average, and there may be many Filipino crew members, including officers, on board.
I worked for Interorient from 2012 to 2020. At that time, the company was a solid mid-level employer, possibly even above average. The vessels were not new, but they were generally in good condition, salaries were paid on time, all travel expenses were covered, and the crews were adequate.
I worked through Interorient in 2024 and also from 2013 to 2015. In 2024, the food was very poor: breakfast consisted of one egg and one sausage, and this continued for three months. Mattresses and internet were not provided until I contacted the ITF, and internet access appeared only after three and a half months; I was signed off after contacting the ITF. Conditions and benefits were better during my earlier contracts, when there was also a pension program.
