I am currently working on one of the company’s newer Panamax bulk carriers. The vessel provides 5 GB of internet per month. Pay varies and can be negotiated; for example, the third officer I replaced was earning 2,300, while most of the older vessels did not have internet access.
I worked as an ordinary seaman on one of the company’s bulk carriers. There was no cook for several months, so two crew members had to prepare food in rotation, while the crew consisted of only nine people. The cabin was very basic, with a small locker, bed, desk and washbasin, and some senior crew members were the only ones with private toilets.
I have been working with the company for two months and am very dissatisfied with the experience. The joining was arranged urgently, and the contract terms for ratings were three months plus one, while the senior officers were extremely difficult to deal with.
