I have sailed as ETO with the company for ten years under the Norwegian flag. Crewing depends on the flag of the vessel group: the Spanish-flag ships carry mostly Spanish officers with Filipino ratings, the French-flag ones require French only for the captain. For a specialist the arrangement has been steady enough that I never saw a reason to leave.
I approached the company for a Third or Fourth Engineer position. The reply was an offer to sail as motorman. With ten years of education behind the licence and real experience in rank, I did not continue the conversation.
