I contacted Marine Man about job opportunities. The communication was poor: they gave vague answers and then stopped responding. They also mentioned a commission of around 500–1,000.
Marine Man helped me join a vessel twice, in 2011 and 2021. The crewing office handled everything promptly, without delays or months of waiting. Each time, only two or three weeks passed between discussing the details and joining the vessel.
I sent Marine Man my CV repeatedly while looking for work for about three months. Although they regularly posted vacancies, they never called me back or provided any meaningful response.
I responded to a vacancy from Marine Man. At first, they disclosed only the vessel's approximate deadweight and year of construction, keeping the vessel's name confidential. After I insisted, they revealed it; I checked the vessel and shipowner and decided to stay with my current company. They then reacted angrily and accused me of checking their partners on behalf of competitors.
Marine Man sent me to work on a general cargo vessel. They did not charge me a departure fee, completed the paperwork quickly, and arranged my joining. I had previously been ignored by them, but later they contacted me and sent me to sea.
I was hired through Marine Man and sent to work on a chemical tanker. My flight was postponed, but the crewing company supported me during the process and I had no complaints about their work. The contract was for three months, and the communication with the crewing office was normal. No departure fee was charged.
I decided to switch to the tanker fleet and contacted Marine Man for help. Initially, they seemed willing to assist me in getting a position, but after 2.5 months of waiting and several calls, I was ignored. When I finally reached someone, they told me they only work with Advanced certificates, despite previously saying they would accept my Basic certificate. This inconsistency was quite strange to me.
