I worked for Mediterranean Car Carriers Line in the past. Salary payments were delayed by two months or more, and on some occasions the full amount was paid only at the end of the contract. The crew had to perform lashing of cars and other vehicles, often working 14–18 hours without rest every two or three days. The food was very poor, and I lost 11 kg during the contract. The ships were old, with small cabins and mostly shared sanitary facilities, and the Greek captains treated the crew very badly.
During my contract with Mediterranean Car Carriers Line, I spent about $1,500 on snacks, cereal bars, and soft drinks bought in port to have something to eat between meals. I also lost 10 kg because the food was so poor that I could hardly eat it.

Later, salaries were delayed by up to four months, and lashing was particularly heavy on one car carrier, using old, heavy straps during loading. The company now appears to be paying wages on time, but my experience included serious payment delays.
