I spent 14 years with Atlantic Ship Management. The company used to be serious, but later it stopped providing work to many of its established personnel and began recruiting more from elsewhere. This led to significant staff turnover, and I regret the time I gave to the company.
I worked with Atlantic Ship Management and found that the company was extremely focused on saving money. The salary offered to some of our officers was low, and the contract salary could differ from the amount stated in a confidential side letter. The bonus had many conditions, and travel expense claims were repeatedly rejected or sent back for clarification. In the office, I was told that supplies would be limited to essential items and ordered only through convenient ports; I also found that inspections were not thorough.
I worked for Atlantic Ship Management in the past, when the company had only four vessels. The salaries were slightly below average, and the fleet consisted of multipurpose vessels.
I am working on my second contract with Atlantic Ship Management. The salary is normal and slightly above average. The vessels are relatively new, but the equipment and maintenance could be better; spare parts and supplies are delivered, although there is some cost-cutting and delivery can take one to three months. The food is good with a capable cook, and crew changes are usually arranged with two to three weeks' notice; the office can sometimes adjust the schedule if requested.
