I completed a contract through Denmax and was sent to a vessel. They charged a recruitment fee: part was paid on joining, and the rest could be paid from the first salary.
I considered a starting position through Denmax. At first, they said that CES and Marlins tests were required, but later they asked for previous test results instead. They also requested payment for altering my seaman’s book and appraisal reports, with the payment required before joining; later, after discussing it internally, they said that a new seaman’s book was necessary. They stated that the agency fee would be paid after joining, and I ultimately decided not to cooperate.
I interned at Denmax. Recruitment fees for experienced seafarers were reportedly 500–700 USD, while for entry-level placements they were 0.5–0.7 of a salary. The company also actively adjusted sea-service records and could request or suggest obtaining a new seaman’s book. It worked with several operators and mainly handled Arab and Indonesian LPG/LNG fleets.
