I worked separately with OSM and with Thome Management. Salaries were paid on time, and the food was generally acceptable. Internet quality depended on the vessel group, and overtime for ratings was paid on some vessels but not on others. Contract terms were negotiable. The main difficulty was dealing with the office managers.
I worked for the owner Golden Ocean on bulk carriers. The owner is decent, but the ISM manager, Thome Singapore, is terrible. After each contract, I promised myself I wouldn't return, but eventually, I forgot the bad experiences and returned for the salary. There is an overwhelming amount of paperwork, training, and reports, much of which seems pointless. The Filipino crew members are generally weak, and the expectations from management are unrealistic. I used to think Greeks were the worst, but Thome Singapore has proven me wrong. If you want surrealism, welcome to Thome Singapore.
