TORM

I worked several contracts on a chemical tanker that was later acquired by TORM. Under Danish management, the company provided good supplies, food, quality PPE and 2.4 GB of internet per week. Crew changes were arranged even during the COVID period, and management was generally reasonable and well organized. The vessels sometimes required extensive maintenance, but much of the poor condition had existed before TORM acquired them; during cargoes requiring heating, additional crew and overtime were provided, and overtime was recorded properly. Tank cleaning and certain maintenance jobs were paid separately, although the payment was later reduced from USD 200 to USD 100.

I completely agree with the review by DesTTrucT. The office talks about how great they are and what goals they strive for, but in reality, it's quite different. They later backtrack, so you can't trust them. They have started removing electronics even on ships with ME electronic engines and a lot of equipment with touch screens and electronics. There are many inexperienced officers, leading to problems caused by their lack of knowledge and unwillingness to learn. Those who have worked in the same position for about 15 years don't know basic things. TORM has an excessively high opinion of their crew's qualifications, forcing them to handle all auxiliary tasks during transitions without providing additional crew. I won't even mention the lack of a qualified repair team for such complex and extensive work, which is standard in normal companies. Overall, being at TORM, you can expect to be let down at any moment.
