I worked through this crewing company as an oiler on a bulk carrier. My salary was $900, and I paid approximately $700 for the placement. The crew was mostly Russian-speaking, while the engine officers had a low level of knowledge; everyone was on watch, and the engineers played computer games in the engine control room. The vessel mainly carried stone and sulfur from the UAE and coal from India, with one voyage to Korea, and I had to pay about $50 to transfer money to my bank account; the monthly cash advance was $100 and was not always available.
I worked through this crewing company in 2013. My salary was paid on time, but I had to pay a $600 recruitment fee. The vessels were in poor condition and there were virtually no supplies.
I am currently working through Headway for My Bulk, a small company with three vessels. The conditions on board are excellent: the food and supplies are good, and internet is available, although Starlink costs $50 for 5 GB. The officers are Ukrainian, the ratings are Indonesian, and the crew is excellent. I did not pay a joining fee.
I consider this an excellent crewing company. They charge a commission, but they provide employment, and I have been working through them to this day. I hope to continue cooperating with them.
