The salary is more or less acceptable for me, and the agency provides an opportunity to go to sea when you need to gain experience or have had a break. I am on an old and worn container ship, but it is operational; internet is unlimited for the fourth engineer and 200 MB per day for the rest of the crew, while the food allowance is $9. The crew is Egyptian, Syrian and Indian, and the main onboard problem for me is the lack of pork.
I worked through Helios on a contract where my full salary was not paid. After the crew change, the agency and the management company promised that the waiting time before joining the next vessel would be paid in full and that hotel accommodation would be provided, but then both sides stopped responding. After three months of discussions with the Turkish office, I contacted the ITF and the salary was paid the next day. I would not recommend this crewing agency.
