I completed my first contract through Danica with d'Amico. The crewing company was generally fine: my crew change was arranged as stated in the contract, wages were paid on time, and tank-cleaning work was paid properly. The food on board was mediocre.
I was scheduled to join a ro-ro vessel through Danica. I went through their tests and interviews, including an additional interview with the German office, and passed everything. A few days later, they told me that another candidate had been selected, leaving me with a very unpleasant impression after the time and effort I had invested.
I spent nine years going through this agency, most of it with one manager who knew my file inside out. It is an agency, not an employer — expectations should match that — but within its role it did its job cleanly the whole way. I moved on simply because nine years anywhere is enough.
